SHREVEPORT, LA – In a move that is sure to draw the ire of the Perkins Administration, Councilman John Nickelson has submitted a public records request to the City of Shreveport, requesting in advance the food he plans to order at a dinner he and the Mayor are planning this week.
A recent Shreveport Times report made public an email from Nickelson to the Mayor, in which the former wished the Mayor’s family a happy holiday and suggested the two schedule a dinner to discuss a billion dollar contract. In a stroke of foreshadowing, Mr. Nickelson’s knowledge of the proposal also came via a public records request.
The Crayfish reached out to the Custodian of Records to confirm the meal request, but he was unavailable for comment as there was cake in the break room.
Per documents obtained illegally by the Crayfish, Councilman Nickelson is requesting a large filet (medium), baked potato (fully-loaded), two glass of Cabernet Sauvignon (spaced out appropriately), and the banana pudding (one spoon, none of this split-a-dessert bullshit).
According to a source inside Government Plaza, who spoke on condition of anonymity, there was, in fact, birthday cake in the break room, and it lasted until almost 5:00.
There is no word yet on whether the Mayor will accept the Councilman’s dinner invitation or Facebook friend request. Nor is there any information as to whether the food will be delivered in advance as requested.
The Crayfish will not be able to provide updates, as this dinky little article took, like, an hour to write.
